समाजसेविका सिंधुताई सपकाळ यांचं निधन झालं. पुण्यात उपचारादरम्यान सिंधुताई सपकाळ यांचं निधन झालं असून आताची सर्वात दुर्दैवी बातमी आहे. इसवी सन १४ नोव्हेंबर १९४७ रोजी त्यांचा जन्म झाला. पुण्यातील गलॅक्सी केअर मध्ये त्यांच्यावर उपचार सुरू होते.
हजारो अनाथ मुलांना सिंधुताईंनी आपल्या मायेच्या पंखाखाली घेतलं होतं. २४ डिसेंबर ला त्यांचं हरणीयाच ऑपरेशन गलॅक्सी हॉस्पिटल मध्ये झालं होत. तेव्हापासून त्यांच्यावर उपचार सुरू होते. आज सकाळपासून त्यांनी उपचाराला प्रतिसाद देणं बंद केलं होत. अनाथांच्या माई काळाच्या पडद्याआड गेल्या. सिंधुताई यांच्या अशा अचानक जाण्याने सर्वत्र शोककळा पसरली आहे.

  1.       सिंधुताई सपकाळ यांचा जन्म १४ नोव्हेंबर १९४७ रोजी महाराष्ट्रातील वर्धा येथे झाला. जीवनात सुरुवातीपासूनच त्यांच्या वाट्याला संघर्ष आला. घरच्यांना मुलगी नको होती, मात्र तरी देखील मुलगी झाल्याने सिंधुताई यांचे नाव घरच्यांनी चिंधी ठेवले. नवरगाव ही त्यांची जन्मभूमी होती. हलाकीच्या परिस्थितीमुळे त्यांना वडिलांच्या घरी पडेल ते काम करावे लागायचे. मात्र अशाही परिस्थितीमध्ये सिंधुताई यांनी चौथीपर्यंत शिक्षण घेतले. वयाच्या 9 वर्षी त्यांचा विवाह झाला. त्यांचे पती श्रीहरी सपकाळ हे त्यांच्यापेक्षा २६ वर्षांनी मोठे होते. वयाच्या अठराव्या वर्षी त्यांनी समाजकारणात उडी घेतली. त्यांनी त्याकाळात गुरे राखणाऱ्या स्त्रीयांचे प्रतिनिधित्व केले. या स्त्रीयांना काबाड कष्ट करावे लागायचे मात्र त्याबादल्यात त्यांना मजुरी मिळत नव्हती. याविरोधात सिंधुताई यांनी लढा उभारला व तो जिंकला देखील. येथूनच त्यांच्या समाजकारणाला सुरुवात झाली.
